General Information

Students possessing an undergraduate degree in landscape architecture can earn the Master of Landscape Architecture in two years. Students without a background in landscape architecture and /or design can earn the MLA in three years (six semesters).

Each student is individually advised on the courses he or she must take to earn the M.L.A. degree.

 

Admission Requirements

To be admitted to the Master of Landscape Architecture program, a student must first be admitted to the Graduate College of the University. In addition to the requirements of the Graduate College, the following additional materials must be submitted directly to the Division of Landscape Architecture:

1. Grade point average conforming to the Graduate College requirement. (Minimum 3.00 on a 4.00 scale for the last 60 hours of undergraduate studies.)

2. Three letters of recommendation

3. A two-page letter of interest detailing the applicant’s interest in pursuing the Master of Landscape Architecture.

GPA Requirement: All students must maintain an overall GPA of 3.0 in order to remain in good standing and to fulfill the requirements of this degree.

The letters of recommendation and the letter of intent may be sent as "hard copy" or electronically to . Letters of recommendation should be sent directly to the Division of Landscape Architecture by the referee. Please use Microsoft Word in transmitting your written files.

Admission Note for Fall Semester 2009
All new Fall 2009 students will be required to enroll in LA 5513 – Landscape Architecture Drawing and Graphics during the August Intersession period. For class meeting times please contact Dr. Tom Schurch, Director and Professor, Graduate Liaison, Division of Landscape Architecture via email (). This course will only be offered during the August Intersession period and will not be offered during Fall Semester 2008. Students are required to purchase various drawing and drafting equipment prior to the first day of class. Please contact Leehu Loon for a list of equipment to purchase via email ().
